Why it matters

Not everything we make is sprayed. These are excipient blends that work inside the formulation, carrying a hygroscopic active, adjusting a dissolution profile or masking a taste before compression rather than after it. They are supplied ready blended for the same reason the coating grades are, so the variability that comes from weighing and mixing on site is taken out.

Four blends. SR100 is the sustained release matrix material. RT-114 is the taste mask developed for Azithromycin and Ofloxacin suspensions. RT314 is the dissolution enhancer blend, for a core that needs help meeting its release specification. HR100 is the adsorbent for a hygroscopic active that has to be held dry through blending and compression.

Running it

Specify these against your granulation route rather than your coater. Tell us whether you are direct compressing, wet granulating or roller compacting, because the answer changes which blend fits.

  • Dissolution enhancer blend

    Corrects disintegration time and dissolution where the core falls short.

    Dissolution enhancer blend used as DT and dissolution material. It is added where a core formulation does not meet the specified disintegration time or dissolution profile and reformulating the core is not practical.

  • Hygroscopic adsorbent material

    Holds moisture off hygroscopic actives during compression and afterwards.

    HR100 is a hygroscopic adsorbent material for hygroscopic drugs. It works effectively on Sodium Valproate, L-Carnitine, Valproate Sodium and other actives that pick up moisture and create problems during compression and afterwards.
